Work is underway to replace the roof of the Buchanan County Courthouse.
County officials are warning the public to be cautious entering and exiting the courthouse as well as walking the sidewalks around the courthouse during roof repair. Parking might be reduced around the courthouse due to construction equipment being parked nearby.
The courthouse remains open and all Buchanan County offices are open to the public.
Ambrozi Contracting has begun setting up perimeter fencing and scaffolding. Workers will begin by tearing off the existing slate tile near the dome. The contractor will repair the roof and the dome. Scaffolding will be erected inside the courthouse, reaching from the basement to the inside of the dome.
The project is expected to take four months.
