The St. Joseph Mustangs fell to the Carroll Merchants on the road Friday 6-3, but bounced back with a pair of wins this weekend, beating Jefferson City 11-3 at home Saturday and then winning at Sedalia 5-1 Sunday.
Dylan Carey was 3-for-3 with three runs scored in Saturday’s game, which broke a three-game losing skid, while Savannah native Noah Bodenhausen tripled Saturday.
In Sunday’s game, the Mustangs used a four-run sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie. The Mustangs won Sunday, despite having only four hits. St. Joseph native and Benton grad Tanner Schmidt earned a two-inning save for the Mustangs, striking out four batters.
The Mustangs’ record stands at 28-13 as they enter the final week of the regular season. The Mustangs play at Chillicothe tonight. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
