Phone down while driving now the law in Missouri

Posted Aug 28, 2023 11:30 AM

BUCHANAN COUNTY — All drivers in Missouri are now prohibited from physically holding or supporting a cell phone with any part of their body.

Drivers are no longer allowed to manually type, scroll or hold their cell phone while driving. This also means drivers can't hold their phones and record, post or broadcast in video calls or on social media posts.

The challenge is simple: when you get into any vehicle, buckle up your safety belt. If you are a driver, put the cell phone down. Turn it off if you have to. Every trip, every time.

Accept the challenge and challenge a friend, relative or members of your community to buckle their seat belts and put their phones down while driving.
