Richard H. Snyder, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025.
He was born June 29, 1947 in St. Joseph to David Earl Snyder Sr. and Margarett Januita (Ide) Stoneburner.
Richard married Dixie Sherlene Allen on April 25, 1987. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2021.
He worked for many years as a jack-of-all-trades handyman, then for many years in maintenance at Belt Bowl.
In his younger years, he enjoyed going dancing with Sherlene. Richard also liked fishing, family camping trips, and collecting “groovy” items.
Richard relished his role as the ornery family jokester, but he also had a soft spot in his heart for his beloved animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Sherlene; his parents; grandson, Shawn Ashford; sister, Ada Melton; and brother, David Snyder Jr.
Survivors include his children, Raymond Kristiansen, John Suba (Leslie), Cherry Penland (Billy), and Brenda Suba; grandchildren, Dayonna McGaughy, Joshua Suba, John Suba Jr., Leanna Suba, and Baylie Kristiansen; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Snyder, Marilyn Byerly-Drew, and Karen Hudson; brother, Edwin Ray Stoneburner; other extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
