The Kansas City Chiefs expect quarterback Patrick Mahomes to be ready for offseason workouts, following surgery on his toe.

They're optimistic that offensive tackles Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz could be available for the start of training camp.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach expressed that optimism in a Zoom call with the media Monday morning.

"We're hopeful (Fisher and Schwartz) will complete their rehab and be ready for training camp and start the 2021 season," Veach said. "I would say Pat is ahead of them, just because of the type of injury, but hopefully, we'll have all three ready to go by training camp."

Mahomes had surgery on Feb. 10, shortly after the Chiefs were walloped by Tampa Bay in Super Bowl 55, to repair a turf toe injury that somewhat limited him throughout the playoffs.

Fisher had surgery for the Achilles tendon he tore in the AFC title game while Schwartz recently had back surgery.

Offensive line depth was a serious question for the Chiefs entering the Super Bowl, and the Buccaneers seized on that, rushing Mahomes on practically every down and forcing him into two interceptions.

Veach says the offensive line will be a big need in the upcoming NFL Draft.

"The draft looks really talented this year on the offensive line," Veach said. "I think it'll be a combination of what we have in house, and blending that in with new talent. Potentially through the draft, and potentially through free agency."

CBS Sports' latest NFL Mock Draft projects four offensive linemen to be taken in the first round, but the Super Bowl runner-up Chiefs will have the next-to-last pick in the draft, which is slated for April 29 - May 1.
