Leilah Monroe Cox, one month old, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
She was born September 9, 2025 in St. Joseph to Chase Cox and Blakely Wertin.
Leilah was a sweet, happy baby who had the best smile and liked to fold her little hands in prayer. She liked to go on walks and listen to music and Baby Einstein, where the Mozart would soothe her.
She loved everybody and liked being around family, and they loved and spoiled her. Though her time with them was brief, she brought light and joy to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her cousin, Omari Mcrelly; and great-grandparents, Gary Stufflebean, Ernest Williams, Denise Cannon, Marchell Marshall, and Gerald Marshall.
Survivors include her mother, Blakely Wertin; her father, Chase Cox; brother, Karson Moore; grandparents, Brook Stufflebean, Patrick Wertin II (Melissa), Scott Uehlin, Darcie Williams, and Matt Cox (Tosha); great-grandparents, Patrick and Darla Wertin, Linda Fabiani, Rocky Hatfield, Richard Amos, Karen Williams, and Pat and Chris Leontos; great-great-grandmother, Aggie Wertin; aunts and uncles, Monroe Wertin, Banks Wertin, Krew Wertin, Pierce Leontos, Madison Cannon, Haley Cannon, and Erin Wood; numerous cousins and other extended family members.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 13, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests contributions to Leilah’s Funeral Fund.
