United Way Success By 6 is inviting area parents, grandparents, primary caregivers, and child care professionals to participate in a series of free monthly information sessions.
United Way of Greater St. Joseph says these gatherings are designed to provide valuable insights into childhood development and effective caregiving strategies. The upcoming session is scheduled for March 16 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Wyatt Park Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located at 2623 Mitchell Avenue. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual participation option is also available.
The focus of the March presentation centers on the principles of Conscious Discipline, specifically exploring how to transition from a mindset of surviving to one of thriving. The curriculum will highlight how to utilize the power of free will to set healthy limits and encourage better compliance in children. Participants can expect to walk away with practical strategies aimed at fostering personal responsibility and self-control within the children they care for. Those interested in planning ahead should also note that future sessions are already slated for April 20 and May 11.
This series offers a specific benefit for child care professionals attending the physical sessions, as they are eligible to receive 1.5 Missouri Clock Hours Child Care Licensing credit for each meeting they complete. To secure a spot, interested individuals can register here.
For additional questions regarding the program, call 816-364-2381. Further educational resources regarding the Conscious Discipline methodology can also be found at consciousdiscipline.com.

The collective goal of this partnership is to ensure that every child in the community is well-prepared and equipped to become a successful learner by the time they start kindergarten.
