The Missouri State Highway Patrol has announced the results of the Driver and Vehicle Safety Division’s 2026 annual school bus inspection program after inspecting several area school district buses.
The Patrol reports that 88 of that St. Joseph School District buses were inspected Of those, 95.5% were approved, 2.3% were defective and 2.2% were out-of-service. 33 buses within the Savannah R-III school were inspected with 87.9% being approved, 9.1% defective and 6.6% out-of-service.
11 buses from the East Buchanan school district were inspected, with the Highway Patrol approving 90.9% and deeming 9.1% defective. Mid-Buchanan presented 15 buses, with only 66.7% being approved. The district had 26.7% marked as defective, with 6.6% being put out-of-service.
Buses with identified defective components require repair within 10 days. Ones that were placed out-of-service will require a correction of components, reinspection and a return to service by Highway Patrol personnel prior to being used to transport passengers.
