Kenneth “Skeeter” Proffit 1947 - 2024

Kenneth “Skeeter” Proffit, 78 of Savannah, MO passed away Monday October 7th, 2024 at his home in Savannah. He was born February 11th, 1947 to Orville and Imo (Todd) Proffit. He married Donna Jean Knierm in Bolckow, MO on June 28th, 1968 and she survives of the home.

Sergeant US Army Battery C 3rd Battalion 17th Artillery stationed in Nuremberg Germany in direct support of the Vietnam war 1966–1968. Honorary flight deck crewmember USS Abraham Lincoln 1990.  Master carpenter and homebuilder for 50+ years.

Skeeter loved being with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, and NASCAR, as well as daily trips to numerous coffee shops and his occasional stop at Dicks Bait Shop.

Survivors include his wife, son, Kent (Sherri) Proffit of Seneca, KS; grandchildren. Cody Proffit, Jake Proffit, Riley Proffit, Lindsey (William) Jack; siblings, Barb Newberg, Linda (Rick) Catron, Donnie Proffit, Donna (Donnie) Durham, and Herbie Proffit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jamie Lloyd Proffit; granddaughter, Courtney Proffit; siblings, Bob Proffit, and Betty Nafzinger.

Memorial visitation and family receiving hours will be 5:00pm-8:00pm Friday October 11th, 2024 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 10:00am Saturday October 12th, 2024 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Military honors will follow the memorial services at Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, MO.
