Mark A. Higgins, a loving and generous man, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on September 4, 1949, in Palmer, TN, Mark was known for his friendly nature and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Mark is survived by his wife, Judy A. Stratton-Higgins, whom he married on July 3, 2010. He is also survived by his children, Christina and Ricky Higgins; stepdaughter, Laura Miller (Derek); grandchildren, Lisa and Luis; great-granddaughter, Jana; siblings, Phylis Petro, Robert "Phillip" Higgins (Yaunna), and Susan Vienhage (Thomas); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Robert L. Higgins and Lillie B. Higgins-Bish; grandchild, Denise; and siblings, David Higgins, Janice Gillam, and Larry Higgins.
Mark proudly served in the United States Army as an engineer, where he specialized in building bridges and demolition. His time in the military allowed him to develop a strong work ethic and a deep sense of patriotism, which he carried with him throughout his life.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed hunting and metal detecting, often sharing his finds with friends and family. He was also a skilled carpenter, using his talents to do remodeling. Mark's love for travel took him to many places, but he especially enjoyed visiting Germany to spend time with his grandchildren.
Mark will be remembered for his loving and generous spirit, as well as his friendly demeanor. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 6.
