Leona Kay O'Dell, 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born October 11, 1958 in St. Joseph, daughter of Robert and Pearl (Harbord) Grooms. Leona attended Central High School. She worked as a CNA, spending much of career with Saxton Nursing Homes. She enjoyed playing Bingo, going fishing, spending time with her grandkids, and watching soap operas and the KC Chiefs.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Lee ODell, Sr., her parents, and brother, Bobby Grooms.
Survivors include: children, Terry Lee O'Dell, Jr., Jerry O'Dell (Randy Babbs), John (Amanda) O'Dell, Norman O'Dell (Alisha Hensley), all of St. Joseph, sisters, Barbara Harbord and Joanna Grooms, grandchildren, Dakota Hensley, Breanna O'Dell, Faith O'Dell, Preston O'Dell, Mikayla O'Dell, and Dallas O'Dell, great-grandchildren, Milah, Dayton, Cason, and Emerson, and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. O'Dell has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Leona O'Dell Memorial Fund, c/o Rupp Funeral Home.
