Marshall Douglas Knox (78), “Doug”, of Leavenworth, KS passed away on May 17th, 2025. Doug was born on December 6th, 1946, in St. Joseph, MO to parents Hobert Knox and Florence (West) Knox. Doug was the second of seven children born to Hobert and Toodie Knox. Doug’s parents as well as his siblings Dale, Dean, Karan, and Danny preceded Doug in death.
Doug graduated from West Platte High School in Weston, MO in 1965. He was a lineman for Sprint and also a Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Platte City, MO Public Works Department until he retired. Doug met Lisa Ann Williams in 1967, and they were wed on June 16th, 1972, in Weston, MO. They welcomed twin daughters Renee and Alicia in July of 1975 and remained lovingly married until Lisa preceded Doug in death in June of 2010.
Doug was a member of the Weston Jaycees organization for several years as well as the president for a number of those years. Doug and Lisa enjoyed many vacations and spending time with their daughters and their grandchildren, as well as enjoying McDonalds together while sitting and looking at the Missouri River. Spending time at Smithville Lake was Doug’s quiet happy place and home away from home. Doug was of the Christian faith and was also very involved and enjoyed attending the First Christian Church of Leavenworth, KS and helping with vacation bible school. He also enjoyed showing off his 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 at various car shows and events with his brother David Knox. After Lisa lost her battle to multiple sclerosis, Doug enjoyed many trips to Florida and Texas to visit his sister’s in-law Joni Mazurka (Steven) and Laura Henrick (Chris).
Doug is survived by brother David (Thea) Knox, sister Dalice Buckler, daughter Renee Clampitt (Adam), daughter Alicia Nicodemus, granddaughter Hailey Shore, grandson Hayden Shore, granddaughter Delaney Clampitt, grandson Jackson Nicodemus, grandson Dale Nicodemus as well as Jack and Dale’s Dad Dan Nicodemus. Doug is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. Memorial contributions can be given to NorthCare Hospice.
