Louise Jeannine Tosterud, 88, of Atchison, Kansas died October 5, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas, with The Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar officiating the service. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2PM, the day of the service. Memorials are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society or First Presbyterian Church of Atchison. Louise was born on October 24, 1935, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Vira (Bonjour) Mitchell. She attended elementary schools at various locations in Kansas and graduated from ACCHS in Effingham, Kansas in 1953. On April 25, 1954, she married George D. Tosterud in Muscotah, Kansas, they later divorced. She worked several years as a secretary at the Atchison Chamber of Commerce and for the Superintendent of Schools of USD 409. She was an active member of her church, member of the Eastern Star, and volunteered for many years for Atchison Hospital Auxiliary and Atchison Library.
She is survived by her son, Chris (Maribel) Tosterud and grandson, Christian. She is preceded by her parents and ex-husband George.
