Raymond Paul “Butchie” Atkins, 87, Albany, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024.
He was born April 10, 1937 in St. Joseph to Derrell and Anna (McCubbin) Atkins.
He was a production worker at the Opportunity Workshop in Stanberry, Missouri, for many years.
Butchie was a very happy person who loved his family, especially the kids and their pets.
He was a Christian.
Butchie enjoyed watching movies, “Bonanza” and cartoons. He also found great comfort and enjoyment in his impressive stuffed animal collection.
The family would like to thank TLC Care Center for their loving care of Butchie, especially Kim and Danielle.
Butchie was very special to our family and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Judith Ann Atkins; and sister, Dixie Landers.
Survivors include sister, Sue Bennett; nieces and nephews, Michelle Wilson, Michael Wilson (Amy), Melissa Lembke, Jeff Landers (Shannon), and Shawn Landers (Katie); numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins, Sherry Dougan (Tom) and Johnny McCubbin; other extended family members and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
