Therese Ann “T.C.” (Chmidling) Schrick, 86, of Topeka, Kansas formally of Nortonville, Kansas died December 23, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mass will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, January 3, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nortonville, with Fr. William Dun-Dery officiating. A rosary will be recited at 9:30AM, the day of the Mass, with visitation from 10:00AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Nortonville. T.C. was born on January 10, 1938, in Effingham, KS, the daughter of Charles and Bernadette (Hegarty) Chmidling. She attended grade school at St. Joseph’s School, Nortonville in 1952, and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, KS in 1956. She married Robert “Bob” Schrick on August 27, 1957. T.C. planted seeds of faith wherever she went. She leaves a legacy of love and caring for her entire family and friends that will carry on for generations. She loved having family together and would always put everyone’s needs before her own and made sure everyone was well fed. T.C. was passionate about art and was incredibly talented, making many friends in the art community with area displays in museums, banks and restaurants. She served as the City Clerk of Nortonville, KS for twenty-five years until she retired in 2000. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nortonville for seventy-five years until moving to Topeka, where she became a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church. T.C. was a member of many community organizations including St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Nortonville Progressive Club, Nortonville Art Show, Jefferson Co. Craft Guild (Oskaloosa, KS), Topeka Art Guild, Plains Art Association, Riverwalk Art Guild (Atchison), and Holy Family Guild (Topeka).
T.C. is survived by her husband Robert, sons, Michael (Jane) Schrick, McKinney, TX, Daniel (Ann) Schrick, Sedgwick, KS, C.J. (Susan) Schrick, Kansas City, MO, Rob (Lea Ann) Schrick, Pinehurst, NC., and daughter Mary Alice (Darin) Scheer, Topeka, KS., grandchildren Daniel, Andrew, Jon, Elizabeth, Matthew, Eliot, Stuart, Harris, McKenzie, Madison and Marta Schrick, Carson, Alexa, Cole and Ava Scheer. Three great-grandchildren. Sister, Alice (Richard) Hansen, Appleton, WI, sister-in-law, Evelyn Chmidling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Andrew Schrick and brother Paul Chmidling.
