Phillip Byron Wilson 1938 - 2024

Phillip B Wilson, 85, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 16, at the First Christian Church in Atchison, Kansas with Dr. David May officiating. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am prior to the service. Interment will be at Mt. Bethal Cemetery, Weston, MO, at a later date with a private family graveside service. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Phillip was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Edward Byron and Eula Gladys Fulk Wilson on September 30, 1938. He was a graduate of West Platte High, Weston, Missouri. Phillip served in the Air National Guard. He worked as a Stores Clerk for TWA in Kansas City as well as raised tobacco. He retired from TWA in 2000. After retiring from TWA, he worked part time at Tate Plumbing.

Phillip married Anna Christine “Chris” Sigrist on December 22, 1957 at his parents home with their lifelong friends, Orville (Buster) and Shirley Blakely, as their attendants. Phillip loved music, both playing the guitar with his family and singing country songs. He loved traveling with his wife overseas and later when he retired, by motor home through the states. Phillip was a people-person making lifelong friendships with almost everyone he came into contact with. He loved to tell stories about the places he and Chris visited, the friends they made and the things they did along the way.

Phillip was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed watching KU basketball, the Chiefs and the Olympics.

His family knew if they needed anything he was always available to help them out, even if they only needed him to listen. His wife was his heart. He loved his children and their spouses, he doted on his grandchildren and their spouses, and to hear him tell it, his great-grandchildren were perfect. He also loved visits from his great-great grandson!

Phillip is survived by his wife, Chris, two sons, Mark (and Beth) Wilson, Nortonville, KS and Thomas (and Julie) Wilson, Atchison, KS, three daughters, Vicki (and Steven) Tate, Atchison, KS, Phyllis Susan (and Ricardo) Robles, Wichita, KS and Brenda Callahan, Atchison, KS, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
