Ronald William Ritenour, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026.
He was born April 16, 1937 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Orville and Mabel (Huffman) Ritenour. He graduated from Connellsville, Pennsylvania, High School in 1956.
Ronald served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the Nebraska Air National Guard and later the Missouri Air National Guard, retiring after 35 years of service, during which he served during Vietnam and Desert Storm.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir.
Ronald was a member of Moila Shriners, King Hill Lodge 376 AF & AM, Legion of Honor #140, High Twelve, and the American Legion Post #149. He belonged to Duncan Hills Golf Course, where he enjoyed golf.
He married Phyllis Stewart and three children were born to this union. They later divorced and he married Marcia Ziph and a daughter was born to this union. They later divorced and he married Ruth Sherer, who preceded him in death on December 21, 2023.
Ronald enjoyed world traveling. Ron and Ruth spent nearly 20 years living in Fort Myers, Florida, for six months of the winter at their winter home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his parents, Orville and Mabel Ritenour; sister, Gail Young; and son, Michael Ritenour; step-daughter, Linda Starks.
Ronald is survived by his sister, Joy Tomchik; children, Mark Ritenour (Jill), Susan Byergo (Joe), and Rebecca McCorkendale; grandchildren, Tyler Ritenour (Kelly), Trevar Ritenour, Brandon McCorkendale (Lexus), Jamie Byergo, and Truman Byergo (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Ethan Ritenour and Evan Ritenour; son-in—law, Ronald Starks; step-grandchildren, Jason Starks (Tracy), Ellen Starks, Jessica Sweete, and Diane Sweete; and step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Starks and Katressa Starks.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 4, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 3, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, St. Joseph.
