Two new exhibits are currently ongoing at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art, showing off works of a classic artist.

Upstairs in the gallery is the work of artist Harry Oshiver an artist who studied at the Philadelphia Art Academy.

Executive Director Eric Fuson says the exhibit features several figures drawn by Oshiver during his time at the Academy

"And the interesting thing about that part in the show is we have some of his sketches from that time, just on the paper, we're not even going to frame those because we want that kind of feeling like you've just seen them come off the easel in a way," Fuson tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr.

The exhibit is titled "Family, Faith, Figures," which Fuson says is because many of the artists family members helped curate the exhibit, which features several paintings depicting Oshiver's faith.

"He's got paintings about his religion and faith in there as well kind of interlaced a little bit," Fuson explains. "And a lot of family portraits, and a lot of people that he knew."

The exhibit will be open in the gallery until June 4th.  Downstairs the museum will feature several paintings by students during the seventh annual undergraduate exhibit, also running until June 4th.

The showcase features several pieces from students in undergraduate art programs across the United States.

Fuson says it's amazing to see some of the chances that some of these young artists take with their work.

"They're young and they're early in their career of trying to be an artist and they just take chances with what they're doing, and they make some really fun things that you just can't believe they're just kids sometimes," Fuson says.

One artist in the exhibition will earn a Best of Show award that will be voted on by a panel of judges.
