During a public meeting on Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Transportation gave an update on the plans for the Interstate 229 double decker bridge project
The I-229 double decker bridge has been a staple of downtown St. Joseph for the last 43 years. The plan now is to replace it with a four-lane roadway, however downtown exits still have yet to be decided on. Project Director Joyce Reynolds gave the public an update on what the roadway will look like.
"It's gonna be nicer than what it is now," Reynolds told reporters at the public meeting. "It will function very similar to the way it does now and hopefully the community can see that it's gonna be better."
