The Savannah boys' tennis team swept Maryville 5-0 on Tuesday at the Savannah High School tennis courts to secure the Class 1 District 16 Championship.

Drew and Matt Collier, Cole Horton and Kaden Kennedy, along with Evan Heftye and Connor Peek, all won their doubles matches, while Horton and Drew Collier won in singles.

In team postseason play, the dual match is stopped once a team wins five matches, so the rest of the singles were not finished.

The Savages, who are a perfect 16-0 in head-to-head team matches this year, move on to team sectionals which are scheduled for Monday, May 17 at a location to be determined.

This Friday is individual Sectionals scheduled for 4 pm in Chillicothe. The Colliers, along with Heftye and Peek, will compete in doubles, while freshman sensation Cole Horton will compete in singles Friday.

One match win at Sectionals Friday is all that's needed for a state tournament berth in Springfield.
