Two felony warrants were served with more than 60 traffic citations and warnings issued during a helicopter operation in the St. Josepha area targeting fleeing vehicles.
The St. Joseph Police Department reports the operation Wednesday night involved nearly 40 officers from a number of agencies that made 92 traffic stops, one check subject, and two attempted traffic stops.
The department says officers served two felony warrants and five misdemeanor warrants along with issuing 64 written traffic citations, both citations and written warnings, along with 45 verbal warnings. In addition, officers issued five investigative charges of resisting arrest, driving while revoked, stealing a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Two vehicles fled during the operation with one successfully tracked by helicopter.
Officers from the St. Joseph Police Department, the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force, and the Missouri Highway Patrol participated with assistance from the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department and the Elwood Police Department.
