Joan M. Abarr, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Living Community.
Born July 16, 1947 in St. Joseph, she was a lifelong area resident until moving to Savannah, Missouri, in September 2006.
She married John W. “Bill” Abarr on April 2, 1966. They later divorced and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1999. They shared the love and joy of their grandchildren.
She was a home daycare provided for the State of Missouri for many years, enjoying many children she loved and cared for. She also worked for Sherwood Medical until the Flood of 1993. She worked at Jake’s Drugs, where she felt more like working with family than just a job.
She was a member of Heritage Church since 2012 and was an active member of Circle of Friends.
Ms. Abarr was preceded in death by her parents, George Riddle and Grace Riddle and baby granddaughter, Ashley Abarr.
Survivors include her three children, Stacy Lynn Pinkerton (Van), Brian Scott Abarr (Rebekah), and Daniel William Abarr; her five grandchildren – loves of her life – Hope Zacarro (David), Matthew Abarr, Tabitha Rowland, Emma Fox, and Joseph Abarr (Accalia Sartain); and her greatgrandchildren Lyla, Leo and Emilia.
Celebration of Life and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 16, 2026, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
