Billye Ann Hitchings, 98, Agency, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025.
She was born October 23, 1927 in Nodaway, Missouri, to Glen and Hazel (Priebe) Rogers. Billye graduated from Pickett High School.
Billye married Leon Hitchings on March 10, 1949. They shared 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 24, 2014.
As a farm wife, Billye helped with milking cows and made sure all the farm hands were well fed. Billye was active in PTA at Pickett Elementary School, a member of Buchanan County Extension Clubs, and a 4-H leader, as well as working at S&H Green stamps for 15-plus years. In later years, she was a member of the Red Hatters.
Billye loved serving the Lord as a longtime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also made sweets for the church’s annual Lord’s Acre Sale and was a member of the church’s cooking crew.
A wonderful cook, Billye was known for her raisin cream pies and angel food cake. She also enjoyed doing crafts and was known for her home remedies. She loved animals, especially riding horses, and collecting angels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Lew Calvert; her husband, Leon; brother, Gene Rogers; sister-in-law, Eldora Rogers; and stepsisters, Elta Heirleen, Dolores “Tiny” Woodhead and special cousin, Helen Platter.
Survivors include her children, Roger Hitchings (Cathy) and Ron Hitchings (Pam); grandchildren, Ron Hitchings, Jr. (Whitney) and Rhanda Shreve (Roger); great-grandchildren, C.J. Hitchings, Tyler Hitchings, Carter Shreve and Hadlee Shreve.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 18, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Blakely Cemetery, Easton, Missouri. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
