ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities have new filed charges against a Kansas felon who absconded in August, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.

Just after 1a.m. August 19, police officers responded to the area of the 400 block North 9th in Atchison to investigate a report of shots fired, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.

Officers determined that multiple shots had been fired and although there were no injuries to anyone, four vehicles became a focus of police.

Two were parked vehicles that were struck by gunfire and two vehicles that were occupied. The investigation that followed has led to charges being filed in District Court against 21-year-old Keldon M. Reynolds of Atchison.

Reynolds is currently being held in the Lyon County Jail on unrelated charges. He  is now charged in Atchison County District Court with criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two counts of criminal damage to property.

He has previous convictions for theft and burglary, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
