Mark Ernest Wheeler, age 71, passed away September 20th at KU Medical Center. He was born February 9th,1952 to Merlin Ernest and Juanita Opal (Woolworth) Wheeler in Leavenworth Kansas. He was raised on a Dairy farm in Nortonville, Kansas until the family moved to Leavenworth. He attended Leavenworth public schools and High school.
He married Pamela Davis in 1972, they had two children Mark Jr and Adam. They divorced in 1982.In 1982 he was married to Elaine Kellogg until 2002. In 2002 he married Peggy Godding,she survives him at the home.
Mark owned and operated Wheeler Lowe foreign auto repair for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He fought the county over higher small business taxes and got to yell at the Governor of Kanss. He won, that was his crowning achievement.
From 2005-2009 he worked maintenance and security at Fort Leavenworth before becoming disabled.
Mark loved motorcycles and fast car. He once had a Red Camero with the license plate” Mad Mark”.
He loved his Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching with his son Adam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both sons. a nephew, Grandson Conner and brother-in-law Roy Mark Godding.
Mark is survived by his wife Peggy, his sister Carol (Cliff) Bond. Daughter in law Sarah Wheeler, grand kids Vincent and Carly Wheeler. Niece Camille Carson and nephew Craig Bond.
Also by children John (Lori) Tull, Wendy (Matt)Valencia), Jamie (Roger)Williams. 18 grandchildren, 7 great
grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws.
And his dogs. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Luncheon will be after the burial at the Riverfront Community Center, in the Women's Waiting Room.
