Ned Lynn Peterson 1947 - 2021

Ned Lynn Peterson, 72, of Morrill, passed away unexpectedly at home July 22, 2021.

He was born November 30, 1948, to Carl and Naomi Syring Peterson and grew up around the Manhattan/Randolph area and graduated from Blue Valley High School in Randolph with the class of 1966.

Ned served his country in the U.S. Air Force, serving some of his time In Thailand.  After his discharge from the military, he spent most of his life working as a diesel mechanic.  After retiring as a mechanic, he went to work at Sac & Fox Casino for three years until Covid forced a second retirement.  He was still keeping busy with the odds and ends and was able to be at home until the end.

In 1983, he was blessed with a daughter Catherine Marie.  In June of 1992, he married Pat Keener with the marriage later ending in divorce.  In March 2011, he met Becky Townsend.  They enjoyed the next ten years together going to auctions and sales, camping, fishing, and just enjoying life together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Marilyn Bletscher and Norrene Kern, two brothers:  Lloyd and Dennis; two brothers in law:  Kenneth Kern and George Hovey.

Ned is survived by his wife Becky Townsend of the home, daughter Catherine Juel (Justin) of Dodge City, KS, brothers:  Carl of Morrill, Donald (Peggy) of Dodge City, Ronald (Diana) of Fredericksburg, VA, and sister Vonda Hovey of Dodge City; two grandchildren:  Brian & Emmalea, both of Dodge City, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned with graveside services planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021, at East Templin Cemetery, Alta Vista, KS.
