5 arrested in Platte County anti-human trafficking operation

PLATTE COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating alleged sex crimes have made five arrests.

On November 21st and November 22nd, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Counter Human Trafficking Operation composed of a predatory buyer interdiction operation and a survivor advocacy operation, according to Sheriff's Department Major Erik Holland

During the predatory buyer interdiction five men were arrested for attempting to engage in paid sex acts with females, they believed to be 14 and 15 years old.

The survivor advocacy operation was hosted by Value Unconditional, a victim advocate group, who met with 12 commercial sex workers and provided 11 successful advocacy sessions.

"This type of crime often goes unseen by the public but victimizes some of the most vulnerable individuals in our communities, according to Sheriff Mark Owen. "Law enforcement in our area is committed to protecting children from sexual predators.” The Platte County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Riverside Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Offices, the Ray County Sheriff’s Office, the Bourbon County (KS) Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County (KS) Sheriff’s Office, and the Greenwood County (KS) Sheriff’s Offices and the Washoe County (NV) Sheriff’s Office for their support during this operation.
