Thomas McNelson Johnson 85, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in a St. Joseph, MO. hospital.
He was born August 21, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Francis and Henry Johnson. He graduated from Central High School and joined the United States Navy serving from 1958-1961 then transferred to the reserves serving until 1964. He worked as a truck driver, then worked at Parisoff Markets, and retired from Mead Products after many years. Thomas enjoyed fishing, yard work, and carpentry around the house. He did crossword and Jigsaw puzzles in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerry and William Peters, and Ray Johnson.
Survivors include his sister Barbara Beers, daughters, Laura Smedley, Cheryl (Bryce) McClurg, and son Michael (Ricci) Johnson all of St. Joseph, MO former wife, Terry Frances Massengale and mother of his children, grandchildren: Bryon (Chris) Wilcoxson, Calen (Brittany) Wilcoxson, Amanda (Will) Unzicker, Amber Johnson, and Katie (Dylan) Boivin, great-grandchildren, Denver, Grayson, Wyatt and Shay.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
