Steven Joseph Trusty, born January 31, 1978, to Joseph and Nancy Trusty, left this world on Saturday, December 21st.
His warmth, humor, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Steve lived his life with passion and curiosity. Always eager to improve himself, he explored new health supplements and read avidly about wellness. He cherished time with friends, especially at the gym, where his energy and camaraderie were evident.
Known for his well-developed sense of humor, Steve had a remarkable ability to bring joy to others. His friends and family could always rely on him for a hearty hug, a listening ear, and wise counsel. Steve often pointed others to Christ through his words and actions, serving as a much-needed counselor and friend. His generosity knew no bounds—whether giving someone a ride, offering emotional support, or even parting with his own winter coat in service to someone in need. Steve treated everyone as family and loved unconditionally. Steve worked as a chef at Kingdom Christian Academy, and in facilities maintenance, along with contributing his time and skill as a volunteer in the sound booth. He was also employed at the Riverfront Community Center, where he found joy in helping others celebrate life’s milestones.
Steve is survived by his mother, Nancy Trusty; his sister, Vanessa Reid (Matthew), and his beloved nephew and niece, Joseph and Julia Reid. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family members who will forever cherish his kindness, selflessness, and love.
In honor of Steve’s legacy, his family will launch “Trusty’s Coats,” an annual coat drive on his birthday, January 31st. This initiative will provide warmth to those in need in our community and beyond, reflecting Steve’s generous spirit. Steven Joseph Trusty’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 26th from 4-6pm at Davis Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, December 27th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
