St. Joseph Post

It began as a stolen vehicle report in the north end and ended with a crash and a shooting in the south end.

One man is in custody after being treated for a gun shot wound to the leg. Four others were involved.

St. Joseph police say a report came in that a car had been stolen at the Speedy’s Convenience Store on St. Joseph Avenue just after midnight. At around 1:40 this morning, city and county officers observed a vehicle chasing the one reported stolen. They heard at least one gun shot.

The two vehicles crashed at Pryor and Gordon Avenues. The person suspected of stealing the car ran from the vehicle with the others in pursuit. Between three to five shots were fired.

Officers arrested a 36-year-old who suffered a gun shot wound to his leg. He was treated at the hospital and now is in jail.

The investigation continues.
