Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has ordered all flags at state government buildings in DeKalb County flown at half-staff Wednesday in honor of DeKalb County Sheriff Andy Clark, killed in a car crash while on duty.
“Sheriff Clark devoted more than 23 years of his life as a law enforcement officer committed to protecting his fellow citizens and making his community stronger,” Parson said in a written statement released by his office. “He served Missouri with heart and grit, and his final act of public service was responding to assist one of his deputy sheriffs at an emergency scene. Sheriff Clark’s career is an example of public service of the highest order.”
Clark died June 3rd in a traffic wreck north of Osborn while responding to an emergency call from one of his deputies.
Both United States and Missouri flags will remain at half-staff until Clark is laid to rest at 1:30pm Wednesday at Oak Cemetery in Amity with full police honors.
Clark had a wife and four children.
Parson served as Polk County Sheriff for 12 years.
