Severe storms brought torrential rain overnight and flash flooding in portions of northwest Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports flash flooding over roadways in Daviess, Caldwell, Carroll, and Chariton Counties. MoDOT crews are monitoring flooded roads. MoDOT has closed some roads to traffic, adding to the roads which never reopened after last year’s flooding.

MoDOT advises motorists not to drive into floodwaters, because flooding might hide damage underneath. Also, MoDOT says motorists should never drive around or remove barricades.
