Lafayette hires three new head coaches for 2020-2021

Lafayette High School has announced the hiring of three new head coaches for the 2020-2021 school year.

The Fighting Irish have hired Laura Rehmeier as the volleyball coach, Kiefer Smith as the track & field and cross country coach, and Chauncey Funk as the girls' golf coach.

Rehmeier comes to Lafayette after coaching at Clinton High School for two years. The St. Louis native will be a mathematics teacher at LHS.

Smith returns to Lafayette after having been an assistant coach in the past and has also been a head coach at Union Star. He competed collegiately at Central Methodist University. Smith will be the 8th grade science teacher at Bode Middle School.

Funk has coached many different sports during his career. He's coached girls' or boys' basketball at some level since 2000, including at Robidoux Middle School. Funk has coached golf in the past as he was the boys' golf coach at King City High School. He'll teach Industrial Technology at Lafayette.
