Six Griffon golfers named to MIAA Academic Honor Roll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Western golf teams have six student-athletes who were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll that was released Wednesday.

The four Griffons on the men's team who were honored include Patrick McCarthy, Jake Mikesch, Austin Murray and Jett Simmons. McCarthy is a senior from Albuquerque, New Mexico who has a 3.07 GPA in Sports Management. Mikesch is a senior sophomore from St. Joseph and he has a 3.3 in Accounting. Murray is a junior from Kearney, Nebraska and has a 3.01 GPA in Business Management. And Simmons is a sophomore from Gallatin, Missouri and he has a 3.31 GPA in Finance.

Anna Bech and Cindy Herrera are the two Missouri Western women's golfers who were named to the honor roll. Bech is a sophomore from Norway with a 3.44 GPA in Business and Herrera is also a sophomore from Albuquerque, New Mexico with a 3.73 GPA in Nursing.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Transfers and true freshman will be recognized in the coming weeks after they meet the two full terms of attendance requirement.
