The St. Joseph City Council, in a work session Thursday, spent an hour discussing how and when to allow bars to reopen.
In the work session via Zoom, St. Joseph Health Department Director Debra Bradley proposed drafting safety regulations specifically to address the reopening of bars.
"There's a lot going on and it just kind of depends on what direction you all want to go, but if you do want to postpone it a week we could go ahead and get some wording drafted for you to review and go that route," Bradley says.
Bradley added that the Health Department, along with Mosaic Life Care, will be hosting a community testing event next week.
Small business owners spoke at the meeting in support of bars reopening with safety guidelines in place. Edison Derr with River Bluff Brewery joined the meeting to detail the safety measures the brewery has planned for whenever they are given the okay to reopen.
The city council will meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday for another work session to further discuss when to open bars and taverns.
