Missouri state health officials reported Sunday that 373 employees and contract workers with Triumph Foods in St. Joseph have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says none of the 373 displayed symptoms of the coronavirus.
More results are expected over the next few days.
“We continue to work this weekend contacting these asymptomatic patients and have initiated the process of contact tracing with those determined to be close contacts of our positive cases,” State Health Director Dr. Randall Williams said in a written statement released by the Department of Health and Senior Services.
DHHS says test results will continue to come in on a rolling basis.
Williams earlier had said the state is sending a team to St. Joseph to help contact anyone who might have come into close contact with those testing positive.
DHHS did not disclose the total number of test results from which the 373 positive results were taken.
Northwest Health Services wrapped up week-long testing of the approximately 2,500 Triumph workers onsite by Friday morning. Workers who were not present at the plant at the time of the onsite testing will be tested at the Northwest Health southside clinic.
Triumph Foods employs more than 2,800 workers at the plant in south St. Joseph which processes 1.5 billion pounds of pork annually.
