St. Joseph Post

Triumph Foods began comprehensive testing of its approximately 2,800 employees at the St. Joseph pork processing plant in St. Joseph.

Triumph, in a news release, says the testing is being conducted in partnership with the state of Missouri.

Testing began this morning at 8 o’clock in the parking lot at the Triumph plant. The company says it will be conducted in a phased-in approach during regular shifts. It expects testing to be completed by the end of the week.

Test results are to be reported to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as they are received.

“We are grateful for the commitment of 2,800 tests from the State and a commercial laboratory partner and we value the ongoing guidance of local and state health officials,” Mark Campbell, CEO of Triumph Foods, said in a written statement released by the company. “This testing will be performed for those who are not feeling any symptoms of COVID-19, and are otherwise ready for work. This is important so we can identify those of us that have the virus that causes COVID-19 but don’t know it.”

Triumph says the plant will continue to operate as it works with local and state officials to ensure the health of Triumph employees.
