The annual Amelia Earhart Festival in Atchison, Kansas, has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
"It is with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Amelia Earhart Festival scheduled for July 17 and 18," says Festival Coordinator Jacque Pregont in a news release. "The safety and well-being of our volunteers and all who would attend are our highest priority. We plan to return in July 2021 with an outstanding celebration of Atchison’s famous aviatrix."
According to the news release, any tickets purchased or deposits made will be refunded. Please contact Jacque Pregont with any questions at [email protected].
The Amelia Earhart Festival celebrates the life and spirit of the famous aviatrix, who grew up in Atchison before embarking on her flying career, which carried her to worldwide fame. The event includes LakeFest, a downtown fair and more, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each July.
