University of Missouri men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin got a verbal commitment from junior college forward Ed Chang on Thursday. Chang announced his decision on Twitter.
The 6-foot-8 Chang transfers to Mizzou from Salt Lake Community College where he averaged 8.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot 39.7 percent from beyond the three-point line in his one year at SLCC. Chang began his career at San Diego State as he appeared in 13 games as a true freshman. He averaged 1.6 points off the bench for the Aztecs.
Chang is an Papillion, Nebraska native as he played high school basketball at Papillion-La Vista High School for three years before finishing his high school career at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington. He originally committed to Washington out of high school but then changed his mind and ended up at San Diego State. Missouri did offer him a scholarship after he decommitted from Washington. Chang will have two years of eligibility at Mizzou.
