The Griffon lacrosse team.The Missouri Western athletic department announced in November that the University will add women's lacrosse as its 17th intercollegiate sport. Women's lacrosse is a spring sports, but Griffon head coach Rachel Benzing has spent this spring recruiting as their first competitive season will be in the spring of 2021.Benzing has already had 17 student-athletes either sign national letters of intent or verbally commit to play for MWSU. Benzing said that 10 of the first 11 student-athletes they brought on campus committed to Missouri Western, but it has slowed down because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
