Missouri man dead, 3 hospitalized after 3-vehicle crash

CRAWFORD COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 3p.m. Friday  in Crawford County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a2004 Western Star semi driven by James R. Kramer, 32, Park Hills, was southbound on MO 19 four miles south of Cuba.

The driver swerved to avoid a vehicle in front of the semi. The semi crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2009 Chevy Express Van driven by Sergio Navarro, 52, Cuba.

A northbound 2011 GMC Yukon driven by Betty L. Counts, 40, Steeleville, swerved to avoid the van, crossed Lindberg Road and came to rest against an embankment.

Navarro was pronounced dead at the scene. Crawford ambulance transported Counts to Missouri Baptist Hospital. Steeleville ambulance transported two teens in the Yukon to Missouri Baptist Hospital. Kramer was not injured. Counts was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
