ST. JOSEPH - Missouri Western women's basketball head coach Candi Whitaker has signed a transfer guard to join the Griffons for the 2020-21 season. Kelcie Hale will come to MWSU after two seasons at North Iowa Area Community College.
"Kelcie is a proven winner and great competitor," Whitaker said. "She is a true run-the-show point guard who has shown tremendous leadership skills as well as the ability to shoot the ball well beyond the arc. Griffon fans will enjoy watching her play the next two years."

Hale was a first team All-NJCAA Region XI and All-ICCAC selection as a sophomore, averaging 10.2 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. She was selected the NJCAA Region XI tournament MVP, after scoring 24 pints in NIACC's 95-73 regional championship win over Kirkwood. Hale helped guide the Trojans to a 32-1 season and a No. 1 ranking in the final four NJCAA Division II national polls. As a freshman at NIACC, Hale was named third team All-NJCAA Region XI, honorable mention All-ICCAC and was selected to the NJCAA Region XI All-Tournament team. At Earlham High School, Hale lettered varsity all four years. She was a two-time all-conference selection, earning first team honors as a senior.
Hale will join a Griffon team that went 21-8 in Whitaker's first season as head coach, finishing in a tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings.
