Bishop LeBlond golf coach Pat Clark retires after 37 years

St. Joseph, MO - Bishop LeBlond High School Athletic Director Michael Evans has announced that boys and girls golf coach Pat Clark will retire effective immediately from his post as head coach. Clark spent 37 years at the helm of the Golden Eagles golf program and retires as one of the winningest coaches in the state of Missouri. During his tenure, Bishop LeBlond gold won 3 MSHSAA state championships, 10 District Championships and 10 MEC Championships. His team also recorded two 3rd place finishes. Currently, two of his former golfers are playing at the Division I collegiate level.

"We are very appreciative for all that Coach Clark did for our golf program and Bishop LeBlond," said Evans. "He was recognized in the state of Missouri as the leader of one of the top golf programs over the last 10 years and I think both the team and individual championships speak for themselves. He is not only a graduate of Bishop LeBlond, but after coaching and teaching at LeBlond for 38 years he will surely be missed. He truly exemplifies what Bishop LeBlond is all about."

Clark was named the NFHS Missouri Golf Coach of the Year in 2018 as well as the NFHS Midwest Section Coach of the year which included nominees from six state in the region. Clark has been named the New-Press Golf Coach of the Year twice and the News-Press Spring Coach of the Year once. The Bishop LeBlond golf program was recognized as one of the Top 10 programs of the decade for their tremendous run between 2010-2019.

Bishop LeBlond is pleased to announce that former Missouri Western golfer Mitch Girres as the next head coach. Girres also currently serves as the head boys basketball coach and physical education teacher at Bishop LeBlond.
