An employee of the Living Community of St. Joseph has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Living Community made the announcement on its website, stating the staff member showed no signs of the virus at the beginning of the shift and only worked on one floor of the building. The staff member worked for five hours and wore a mask the entire shift, according to the Living Community website, before becoming ill.

The Living Community says it is tracking the health of everyone who came into close contract with the staff member. Residents and employees are being monitored for symptoms.

Living Community officials say visitors can only enter the facility for essential health care services and compassionate end-of-life care. Visitors must be screened and free of symptoms before allowed in the building.

Benedictine Health System operates the Living Community of St. Joseph features 49 independent living apartments, 32 assisted-living residences, and a 96-bed skilled nursing facility.
