St. Joseph school officials have hired the West Nodaway R-1 school superintendent as the new St. Joseph Director of Secondary Education.
The St. Joseph School District has announced Shannon Nolte will begin his new duties in the 2020-2021 school year.
Nolte had served as West Nodaway principal before becoming school superintendent. Nolte served as principal at North Andrew R-VI where he taught before moving to West Nodaway.
Nolte is familiar with the city.
Nolte’s wife, Marty, grew up in St. Joseph. Marty now serves as a media specialist at Maryville Middle School.
“We are very familiar with St. Joseph in many ways,” Nolte said in a written statement released by the St. Joseph School District. “My sister-in-law works as an optometrist in St. Joseph and my niece is in the pre-med program at Missouri Western State University.”
Nolte will officially join the St. Joseph school district in July. The school board approved the appointment during an executive session in late March.
