Bishop LeBlond High School has a new principal.

The Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese has announced Ann Lachowitzer has accepted the position for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Lachowitzer will become LeBlond principal after four years as principal of St. Charles Borromeo Academy in Kansas City, where the diocese says she increased enrollment and reinvigorated the identity of the elementary school.

The diocese says Lachowitzer has 25 years of experience in education and “is a dedicated professional experienced in organization and analysis to evaluate school effectiveness, marketing, development, and rebranding.”

In its Facebook post, the diocese does say the one-year appointment gives it time to respond to the possible administrative restructuring that might affect to role of the principal at the high school level. The St. Joseph Catholic community is evaluating the future of its schools through the Catholic School Vitality Committee.

Lachowitzer will replace Jeff Sullivan who announced earlier that he would step down as LeBlond principal. Sullivan became principal at LeBlond in 2015, following Solon Haynes, who served in the role from 2009 to 2015.
