Posted Mar 16, 2020 8:15 PM

The MINK League understands and supports the decisions being made across the nation during this time.

The MINK League’s number one goal is to provide a safe environment for players, coaches, fans, host families, staff, and all of the tremendous people who are a part of the MINK League. League officials continue to monitor developments during this fluid situation. However, we are optimistic and hopeful that the League will be able to begin on May 27 as planned.

Additionally, each team is welcoming college seniors who have been granted an additional year of eligibility. We will continue to prepare for the 2020 season and provide updates as we progress.

St. Joseph School District suspends spring sports indefinitely

The St. Joseph School District leadership team continues to engage in ongoing discussions related to the potential impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on our community in the days and weeks ahead.

Part of that discussion includes the impact on spring sports and activities. This morning, we received word that MSHSAA will be putting out a statement later today on the matter. The City of St. Joseph also signed an emergency declaration today banning gatherings of 50 people or more. Although the declaration provides an exception for “day-to-day operations such as schools,” the district is taking proactive measures to limit the risk to our staff, students and their families. In light of this, we will be suspending all SJSD activities, including spring sports, effective today, March 16, 2020 until further notice.

This scheduling announcement addresses activities and spring sports only at this time. Discussions and decisions related to other areas of impact in our district are still underway. We will send updated communication as soon as we know more.
