Local and state authorities conducted a search in western Nodaway County Wednesday for a possible connection to a Skidmore man who disappeared more than 20 years ago.

Now, they wait for assistance from the federal level.

Nodaway County Sheriff's captain Austin Hann says an FBI team will arrive in Quitman on Monday to help with the search.

Officers received a "credible tip" that may lead to more information regarding Branson Perry, who mysteriously disappeared in April 2001. Hann says there's not much activity at the site right now.

"We're going to get some different resources in there to continue with this investigation," Hann told KFEQ Radio Thursday. "Right now, we're kind of just waiting for those resources to show up. Maintaining possession and control of that property until they get there. That kind of puts us to where we are now."

The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office has never closed the case regarding  Perry, who was only 20 years old when he mysteriously disappeared after walking out of his house in Skidmore.

Hann says gathering new evidence in this case is important, as the family seeks closure.

"The other aspect is getting evidence to move forward with prosecution in this case," he said. "So, I think there's really two end results there - one is providing that closure to family and the other is moving forward with a criminal case."
