Northwest women fall to Emporia State 80-52 in MIAA Quarterfinals

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The No. 10 seeded-Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team ended its season with a loss to the No. 2 seeded-Emporia State Hornets in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament. The Bearcats fell to the Hornets, 80-52.

The Bearcats shot 38.5% from the field, 33.3% from behind the arc, and 50% from the free throw line. Points off turnovers and points in the paint were both dominated by Emporia State. The Hornets outscored the Bearcats 22-2 off turnovers, and 34-18 in the paint.

Paityn Rau led the Bearcats with 12 points and tied for a team-high seven rebounds with Jayna Green. Kendey Eaton, Erika Schlosser and Jaelyn Haggard each had eight points. Mallory McConkey and Mia Stillman led the Bearcats with three assists.

Mollie Mounsey led Emporia State with 30 points, followed by MIAA freshman of the year Tre'Zure Jobe with 24 and Morgan Laudan with 11. Fredricka Sheats led the Hornets with 10 rebounds and Jobe led the team with six assists.

Northwest finishes the season at 12-18, the most wins in a season for the Bearcats since 2012-13.
