Victor Clyde “Chuck” Poe, 76, of St. Joseph, MO passed away on December 7, 2024, from a long battle with lung cancer.
Chuck was born on April 16, 1948, in St. Joseph, MO to Victor and Jessie Poe. He attended Christian Brother and Central High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he served four years as a Medic during Vietnam.
He married Mary Anderson in 1966 and of that marriage a son was born, Tracy Poe. He later married Linda (Kizior) Poe in the early 70’s and they had a daughter, Kariane (Poe) Pierce. Even though they divorced, Linda was still the significant other in his life.
He was employed by Crouch Bros Truck Lines for a time before he joined and worked in the pipefitter trade just as his father did with Local Pipefitters Union, Local 45 for the next 40 years wherein he retired from.
Chuck didn’t know a stranger and could be counted on for great conversation and stories over coffee. One of his favorite places was Farris’s Truck Stop where he would meet regularly to chat with friends.
He is survived by his son, Tracy Poe, Council Bluffs, IA; daughter, Kariane (Chad) Pierce, Troy, KS; sister, Dolores (Darold) Dorsey, Leeton, MO; grandsons, Breyden Pierce and Rhett Pierce, granddaughter, Tabatha (Harry) Ashburn; great grandchildren, Jessi Pierce, Riley, Archer and Scarlet Ashburn, niece, Kelly Copeland and nephew, Eli Dorsey and many good friends.
Funeral Service: 12 noon Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.
Visitation: Family will receive friends 11:00 A.M. Thursday, 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9 A.M. Thursday.
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph, Missouri, where there will be military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 287, Savannah, Missouri.
